ATTIC-GRENIER

The place to store mistakes and memories. The half forgotten, the unsure-what-to-do-with, the sentimental or attachment-anxiety objects. Things removed form the currency that once gave them function or meaning,,,

…A space uncurated, often a random collection of furniture, objects, ephemera.  Of orphaned ‘things’, un-anchored from their histories through loss of context and the passing of time. It is place where forgetting and remembering quietly ferment.  Where nothing happens but time changes meanings – the contemporary become anachronistic, the broken becomes decrepit, the sentimental become a shadow of a memory, the story as to the why and how they ended up there, are forgotten.

For the photographs, the objects are taken from the attic to the cellars (A small french family house that was once used to produce Champagne)  The journey, selection and arrangement for the camera becomes a slow performance and ritual giving space for any silent and forgotten stories that could still be told, to be told.
